Tely Toumani, MS, LMFT, LPCC, CIHC
Lyme and other complex, chronic illnesses can uproot a person’s entire sense of identity, well-being, and trust (in their bodies, themselves, others, and life). Lyme can be a very traumatic experience in itself, and it can also bring up traumas from earlier in one’s life. I believe that recovering from Lyme is more than just healing and strengthening the body. There is a strong mental/emotional component to it.
The Lyme journey can be approached as a Hero’s Journey, where the descent into the darkness, pain and fear of the experience can ultimately become catalysts to greater wholeness, strength, wisdom, compassion, and love (for oneself, for others, and for life).
As a Lyme Literate Psychotherapist, I have extensive experience facilitating people’s journey through this difficult landscape, helping them emerge into the best version of themselves – something beyond just “how it was before Lyme,” but rather, a place of even greater well-being. I know the Lyme territory very well and am honored to guide people through the process of healing.
